Ronald H. Lewis
Ronald H. Lewis, age 71, of Mountain Home, Arkansas, died Friday, January 15, 2010, at his home in Gassville, Arkansas. He was born October 14, 1938 in Morriston, Arkansas to Jonathan L. Lewis and Mary Patterson (Ollie) Montgomery Lewis. On May 28, 1960, he married Bea Ashcraft in Salem, Arkansas. Ron served four years in the United States Air Force where he was on a Missile Launch Crew located in Roswell, New Mexico and Lincoln, Nebraska. He and his wife, Bea, moved to Mountain Home in 1965 where he worked for NAEC as a Staking Engineer. He later entered the real estate field and in 1971 he was co- founder of LeMac Realty, which later was known as Century 2l LeMac Realty. Ron was a real estate developer, who developed at least twelve subdivisions in and around the Twin Lakes Area. In 1979 he and Bea purchased Alley Abstract Company. He was a member of the Mountain Home Chamber of Commerce, North Central Arkansas Board of Realtors, and the state and national Realtors associations. He was an abstractor and belonged to the Arkansas Land Title Association. Ron was a life-time member of the Church of Christ and through the years supported several men through Preacher’s School. In 1970 and l973 he and his wife worked with missionaries through “Campaigns for Christ” in Canberra, Australia and Wellington, New Zealand. He loved fishing and hunting of all kinds and was an avid bow hunter. Mr. Lewis is survived by his wife, Bea Lewis, of the home; one sister Ernestine Mejaski of Springfield, MO., and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; six sisters and three brothers.
Visitation will be Tuesday, January 19th, from Noon-6:00 p.m. with family receiving friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Mountain Home Church of Christ at College & North. The funeral will be Wednesday, January 20th at 1:00 p.m. with Ken Burton, Ian Terry and Ron Babbitt officiating. Burial will be at the Salem Cemetery in Salem, Arkansas. Memorials may be made to Southern Christian Children’s Home in Morrilton, AR or Hospice of the Ozarks in Mountain Home.
